The M65-69 age group at the Two Cities 10K served up one of the tightest finishes of the morning. Lester Lowe, 65, of Fresno crossed in 1:03:57 to claim the win, but Juan Martinez — three years his senior at 68 — was right on his heels in 1:04:00. Three seconds separated first from second, and both men averaged 10:18 per mile. That's not a coincidence; that's a race within a race, two Fresno runners pushing each other to the line.

Walt Whelan, 66, wasn't far behind either. His 1:04:14 finish at 10:20/mi put him just 17 seconds off the winning time, making this a genuinely compressed podium. When the top three in an age group finish within less than 20 seconds across a 10K, the racing was real — and all three men from Fresno made it so.

Artemio Aching, 67, finished 4th in 1:26:52 at 13:59/mi, completing the four-man M65-69 field. His pace tells a different story from the front three — a considerably steadier, more measured effort across the course.
