Two Cities Marathon 10K — F50-54: Rossi Runs Away With It

• Michele Rossi won the F50-54 age group in 57:07 (9:12/mi), finishing nearly 1:36 ahead of runner-up Iliana Vázquez.
• The top two separated themselves from the field: 3rd-place Stephanie Gendron finished in 1:01:34, more than 2:51 back of Rossi.
• A tight cluster formed mid-pack: places 8 through 16 were separated by just 3:23 across nine finishers, all between 1:14:45 and 1:18:08.
• 33 women finished in the F50-54 age group, ranging from Rossi's 57:07 down to the 20th-place mark of 1:30:07.

Michele Rossi made the F50-54 race her own from the start. The 50-year-old Fresno native crossed in 57:07 at a 9:12/mi clip — the only finisher in the age group to break the one-hour barrier — and her margin over second place was never really in doubt. Iliana Vázquez, also from Fresno, gave chase and ran a solid 58:43 (9:27/mi) to claim second, but the gap to Rossi held firm at 1:36.

Behind those two, Stephanie Gendron of Visalia earned the final podium spot in 1:01:34 (9:54/mi), running a noticeably more measured pace than the leaders but still pulling clear of fourth-place Hiromi Kubo, who finished in 1:03:16 (10:11/mi). Pat Martinez rounded out the top five in 1:05:41, with Maria Bague sixth in 1:07:51 — the last finisher under 1:10.

The real drama in this 33-woman field played out in the mid-pack, where nine finishers from 8th through 16th were bunched between 1:14:45 and 1:18:08. Jennifer Michalk (10th, 1:15:29), Kristin Sanders (11th, 1:15:43), and Anna Lissa Tran (12th, 1:16:13) were separated by less than 45 seconds across three spots — a testament to how evenly matched that stretch of the field was on the streets of Fresno.
