Two Cities Marathon 10K — F25-29: Sharwood Runs Away With It

• Lauren Sharwood (1st, 39:12) won the F25-29 age group at a blistering 6:19/mi — finishing more than four and a half minutes clear of 2nd place.
• Hailey Fernandez (2nd, 43:51) held off Katelyn January (3rd, 48:15) by over four minutes, with both Clovis runners claiming the podium.
• Valeria Patino (8th, 57:34) and Brianna Weber (9th, 57:34) finished in the same clock time, with Patino edging Weber for 8th by the finest of margins.
• The F25-29 field of 32 spanned nearly 30 minutes from front to back, with Gabriela Maria Cubias Rodriguez (20th, 1:11:23) anchoring the listed finishers at 11:29/mi.

Lauren Sharwood, 29, of Fresno made this one a statement. Her 39:12 at 6:19/mi wasn't just a win — it was a wire-to-wire demolition of the F25-29 field. The gap to runner-up Hailey Fernandez stretched to 4:39, a margin that speaks less to a close race than to Sharwood operating on a different level entirely.

Fernandez, 25, of Clovis crossed in 43:51 at 7:03/mi to lock up 2nd — a pace nearly 45 seconds per mile slower than Sharwood's, but comfortably clear of fellow Clovis runner Katelyn January, who took 3rd in 48:15 at 7:46/mi. The Clovis contingent made their presence felt on the podium, with two of the top three coming from the same city.

The battle for 8th produced the race's most dramatic finish among the listed runners. Valeria Patino and Brianna Weber — both from Clovis, both running 9:16/mi — stopped the clock at an identical 57:34, with Patino holding 8th by the thinnest possible margin. Just behind them, July Alvarez (10th, 58:23) and Josepha Mbouma (11th, 59:53) rounded out a tight mid-pack cluster where less than two and a half minutes separated 8th through 11th.

Further back, Nadi Aung (14th, 1:04:53) and Stacy Hayes (15th, 1:04:57) staged their own miniature photo finish — separated by just four seconds across 6.2 miles — before the field spread out through the 1:06 to 1:11 range to close out the top 20.
