Two Cities 10K — F30-34: McCall Runs Away With It

• Danica McCall won the F30-34 age group in 50:16 (8:05/mi) — more than six minutes clear of the field.
• Sibel Uzun (2nd, 56:21) and Laura Ledesma (3rd, 56:38) were separated by just 17 seconds in a tight battle for the podium's second step.
• Places 4 through 7 were packed into a 41-second window: Ashley Pries (4th, 57:41), Rachel Worman (5th, 57:52), Ortencia Durán Jiménez (6th, 58:16), and Angelica Zarate (7th, 58:22).
• 50 women finished in F30-34, making it one of the race's deeper age groups.

Danica McCall, 34, from Fresno, turned in a performance that simply had no answer from the rest of the F30-34 field. Her 50:16 finish at 8:05 per mile put her across the line before the second-place runner had even crested the final stretch — a margin of 6:05 that speaks for itself. In a 10K, that kind of gap isn't a close race that got away; it's a different gear entirely.

Behind her, Sibel Uzun of Hanford and Fresno's own Laura Ledesma waged a genuine battle for the silver spot. Uzun held it at 56:21 to Ledesma's 56:38 — 17 seconds the difference after 6.2 miles of racing at nearly identical pace. Ashley Pries (4th, 57:41) and Rachel Worman (5th, 57:52) kept the pressure on from just behind, with Pries holding off Worman by 11 seconds. Add Ortencia Durán Jiménez (6th, 58:16) and Angelica Zarate (7th, 58:22) into the mix, and the stretch from 4th to 7th was a genuine four-way contest decided by less than a minute total.

Brianna Mulvey (8th, 1:01:40) was the first finisher to break into the 1:01 range, opening a small gap back to Nia Apodaca (9th, 1:02:16), Patricia Chavez (10th, 1:02:19), and Natasha McGowan (11th, 1:02:26) — three runners who finished within ten seconds of each other. With 50 finishers spread across the age group, the depth of the F30-34 field made for compelling racing well beyond the podium.
