N. Frantz announced herself early and didn't let up. The 12-year-old from Clovis crossed the line in 21:06, running a 6:47/mi pace to win the women's race outright — a commanding performance that put 35 seconds of daylight between her and everyone else. That margin wasn't a photo finish; it was a statement.

Right behind her, Lisa Lisacrouch66@comcast.net delivered the day's most striking contrast: a 55-year-old from Madera running 6:59/mi to finish 2nd among 430 women in 21:41. That's a 12-year-old and a 55-year-old occupying the top two spots, separated by just 35 seconds — and no one else within a minute and a half of either of them. O. Scogin, also 12, rounded out the podium in 23:07, making it two sixth-graders on the women's podium in Fresno.

The chase pack told its own story. C. Paz (age 9, 4th in 23:41) and Angelika Magana (14, 5th in 24:12) kept the youth theme going, while Traci Beaumont (48, 6th in 24:37) showed the adults weren't entirely ceding the top spots. Geleeza Lopez (7th, 24:46), Susan Sran (8th, 24:48), and Erika Kuehn (9th, 24:57) ran within 11 seconds of each other, making for a genuinely competitive battle for the back half of the top ten. Lisette Maciel closed out the top ten in an even 25:00.

With 430 women finishing in Fresno on a late-October morning, the range of ages and hometowns across the top 20 alone — from a 9-year-old in Clovis to a 55-year-old in Madera — made this one of the more colorful women's fields of the day.
