Two Cities Marathon 10K — M60-64: Moffett runs away from the field

• Michael Moffett (39:55, 6:25/mi) won the M60-64 group by an enormous 8 minutes and 40 seconds over runner-up Ruben Partida.
• Partida (48:35, 7:49/mi) held second place comfortably, finishing nearly 7:32 ahead of third-place Ernie Escobedo (56:07).
• Places 4 and 5 were tightly contested: Bill McKee (58:47) and Christopher Hart (59:39) were separated by just 52 seconds after 6.2 miles.
• 12 men aged 60–64 finished, spanning nearly an hour from wire to wire — Moffett's 39:55 to David Carona's 1:37:49.

Michael Moffett, 63, from Fresno, didn't just win the M60-64 group — he dominated it. His 6:25/mi average was a full 1:24 per mile faster than Ruben Partida's 7:49/mi, and that gap compounded relentlessly over 6.2 miles. Crossing in 39:55, Moffett finished nearly nine minutes clear of anyone else in his age group. That's not a race — that's a statement.

Partida, the 61-year-old from Turlock, was a clear and comfortable second at 48:35, holding nearly eight minutes over third-place Ernie Escobedo (60, Clovis) who came through in 56:07. The real drama in the M60-64 group played out just behind them: Bill McKee (64, Fresno) and Christopher Hart (62, Clovis) ran the final stretch in a genuine battle, McKee holding fourth at 58:47 and Hart pushing him all the way to the line, finishing fifth just 52 seconds back at 59:39.

The back half of the field spread out considerably from there. Randy McDaniel (6th, 1:05:52) and David Yetter (7th, 1:07:31) were separated by under two minutes, while Glenn Tokubo (8th, 1:10:30), Alan Neal (9th, 1:13:18), and Don Valenzuela (10th, 1:13:34) formed a loose cluster through the final stretch. Antonio Lopez Ortiz rounded out 11th in 1:30:36, and David Carona completed the M60-64 field in 12th at 1:37:49 — a finish worth celebrating on its own terms.
