Two Cities Marathon 10K — M15-19: Andrew Jones Runs Away With It

• Andrew Jones (1st, 35:56) finished at a 5:47/mi pace — more than 21 minutes ahead of 2nd-place Hiro Vang (57:23).
• Tightest battle of the day: Christopher Manzano (3rd, 1:00:26), Justinclay Aduana (4th, 1:00:46), and Nihal Gill (5th, 1:01:55) were separated by just 89 seconds across three places.
• Brothers on the course: Christopher Manzano (3rd, 1:00:26) and Jeshua Manzano (6th, 1:13:02) both made the trip from Madera to race the M15-19 field.

Andrew Jones, 17, of Fresno, simply had a different race than everyone else. His 5:47/mi pace put him in a category of one — crossing the line at 35:56 while the rest of the seven-man field was still well into their runs. The gap to runner-up Hiro Vang, also 17 but making the trip from Merced, stretched to 21 minutes and 27 seconds by the finish line. That kind of margin doesn't happen by accident; Jones ran a controlled, commanding race from start to finish.

Behind Vang (57:23), the real drama unfolded in a three-way scrum for third. Christopher Manzano, 15, of Madera, held off Justinclay Aduana, 19, of Fresno, by just 20 seconds — 1:00:26 to 1:00:46 — with Nihal Gill, also 15, of Fresno, pressing hard another 69 seconds back at 1:01:55. All three ran within a 9:44–9:58/mi range, making that stretch of the results the most competitive of the afternoon.

Jeshua Manzano, 16, rounded out the Madera contingent in 6th at 1:13:02 (11:45/mi), while Izyk Orozco, 16, of Fresno, completed all 10K to finish 7th in 1:49:43. Seven teenagers, seven finishers — and one of them made it look like a completely different race.
