Melvin Nyairo put on a clinic in Sacramento's warm Memorial Day conditions — 68°F with a 14 mph breeze — running 16:26 at a 5:18/mi clip to take the M35-39 title without drama. His opening mile was electric: he sat 2nd among men at that first checkpoint before settling into 6th, where he held firm through the tape. The margin of victory was a clean 15 seconds over Roseville's Kyle Lackner, who ran a composed 16:41 and never threatened to close the gap in the final mile.

Behind those two, the race had a distinct break. Parker Daniells of Orangevale crossed in 17:41 to claim 3rd — a full minute behind Lackner — while Ryan Johnson out of Carrollton, TX, made the most compelling move in the group.
