Jenny Hitchings simply ran away from the F60-64 field. Her 20:37 — a 6:38-per-mile clip on a warm Sacramento morning with a 14 mph wind — put her 3:42 ahead of runner-up Jackie Sword-Olson, a margin that was never really in doubt. She held 16th place among all women through the first two miles before settling at 17th at the line, and her mile-two split ranked 18th-fastest in the entire women's field — a sign she wasn't coasting.
