Traci Seto crossed the line in 23:41 to claim the F55-59 title at a steady 7:38 per mile on a clear Sacramento morning. Her race unfolded with characteristic consistency — she entered the women's field around 44th after the first mile, drifted briefly to 47th at the midpoint, then edged back to 46th at the finish. Nothing flashy, just controlled execution from wire to wire.

The real drama was right behind her. Carolyn Hamlin, 58, from Rancho Cordova, ran one of the more compelling races in the group. She was 63rd among women after the opening mile — well off Seto's pace — but reeled in competitor after competitor through miles two and three, climbing all the way to 47th by the finish. Her 38th-fastest women's split on the 2M→3M leg tells the story: Hamlin was accelerating while others faded, and she nearly caught Seto, finishing just seven seconds behind in 23:48. Seven seconds over 3.1 miles is a margin that invites a rematch.

Lynette Greco, 56, of Folsom, held third in 27:22, finishing 92nd among women and contributing the 86th-fastest women's split on the closing 3M→Finish segment. Jennifer Harwood (4th, 28:35) and Claudia Wirth (5th, 29:21) rounded out the top five, with Wirth and Tressa Tabares separated by just two seconds in sixth at 29:23 — the tightest gap outside the top two.

All 29 finishers in the F55-59 age group covered the course on a pleasant 68°F morning with a light breeze — conditions that had no excuses to offer. Seto made the most of them.
