Two Cities Marathon 5K — F35-39: Hastings dominates, while a three-way sprint decides third

• Caty Hastings won the F35-39 age group in 25:51 (8:19/mi), finishing more than 1:10 clear of second place.
• Lilia Gutierrez was the runner-up in 27:01 (8:42/mi), the only other finisher under 30 minutes.
• Megan Reyes (31:08) edged Britani Tuon (31:11) and Ana Romo (31:23) in a tight battle for third — just 15 seconds covering all three.
• 54 women finished in F35-39, with the top 20 ranging from 25:51 to 37:54.

Caty Hastings, 39, of Clovis ran away with the F35-39 title from the start, posting a brisk 8:19/mi average over the 5K to finish in 25:51. Her margin over second place was a commanding 1 minute and 10 seconds — a gap that made this one of the clearest victories in the age group. Fellow 39-year-old Lilia Gutierrez of Fresno gave chase and earned a strong runner-up finish in 27:01 at 8:42/mi, but the gap to Hastings was never really in doubt.

Behind those two, the race for the podium's final spot was a different story entirely. Megan Reyes of Clovis crossed in 31:08 to claim third, with Britani Tuon just three seconds back at 31:11 and Ana Romo of Clovis completing the trio in 31:23. All three ran right around 10:00–10:06/mi — a remarkably tight cluster across 15 seconds of racing.

Kristyna Busch (32:23), Rachel Woodside (32:46), and Carolyn Yamamoto (32:50) formed the next tight pack, separated by just 27 seconds across positions 6 through 8. Vanessa Pedroza (33:24) and Emily Hindenburg (33:47) rounded out the top ten, with the remaining 34 finishers stretching the field out to just under the 38-minute mark for the top 20.
