Two Cities Marathon 5K — F20-24: Alcocer Gonzalez Runs Away With It

• Brittany Alcocer Gonzalez won the F20-24 age group in 22:48 (7:20/mi) — more than 6 minutes clear of the field.
• Ashlee Goyette (2nd, 29:03) and Nassiba Agbere (3rd, 29:26) were separated by just 23 seconds at the front of a tight battle for the podium's lower steps.
• Places 8–10 were a genuine scramble: Lyla Tapia (8th, 34:45), Hannah Hatmaker (9th, 34:46), and Julia Pagani (10th, 34:46) finished within a single second of each other.
• 37 women completed the F20-24 race across a spread from 22:48 to well past 40 minutes.

Brittany Alcocer Gonzalez, 23, from Bakersfield, didn't just win the F20-24 age group — she lapped the competition in spirit. Her 22:48 finish at 7:20 per mile put her more than six minutes ahead of second place, a margin that speaks for itself in a 5K. While the rest of the field was still working through the early miles, Alcocer Gonzalez was already done.

Behind her, Goyette and Agbere ran a genuine race for the silver. Ashlee Goyette of Clovis crossed in 29:03 at 9:21/mi, with Fresno's Nassiba Agbere — the youngest woman on the podium at 20 — finishing just 23 seconds back in 29:26 (9:28/mi). Mariah Macias rounded out the top four in 30:53, another 1:27 further behind.

The most crowded moment of the race came at the back of the top ten. Lyla Tapia (8th, 34:45), Hannah Hatmaker (9th, 34:46), and Julia Pagani (10th, 34:46) were essentially inseparable at the finish — one second covering all three. Valeria Gentil wasn't far off either, crossing 11th in 34:51, making it four runners within seven seconds of each other in that stretch.

The F20-24 field of 37 spread out across a wide range of paces and performances, with the full group extending well past the 40-minute mark. But from the front-runner's wire-to-wire dominance to the frantic scramble for 8th through 10th, there was no shortage of story on the streets of Fresno.
