Chandler Maciel, 24, of Hanford, made this men's race look straightforward from the gun. He led from the first checkpoint to the last, crossing in 1:07:36 at a 5:09/mi clip — and then backed it up with the fastest closing split of anyone in the men's field from 10K to the finish. That combination of front-running composure and a strong finish is hard to argue with in a field of 580.

Veeresh Neralagi, 23, of San Jose, was the clear second-best man on the course, running 1:10:47 (5:24/mi) and posting the 2nd-fastest closing split. But at 3:11 back, he was racing his own race — Maciel was already gone. The real drama unfolded in the battle for the final podium spot, where Ruben Reyes (1:18:30) came through with the 3rd-fastest closing split to overtake Bolaños Molina, who had held 3rd through 10K but faded to 4th in 1:19:58 with only the 9th-fastest close.

Just behind them, A.J. Reid, 31, produced one of the more eye-catching finishes of the day. Starting the second half of the race in 8th place, Reid ran the 4th-fastest closing split among the men to surge all the way to 5th in 1:19:59 — one second behind Bolaños Molina. That's a genuine catch-up story; Reid ran the back half faster, but ran out of course.

Further down, 41-year-old Daniel Anderson (6th, 1:20:11) and 43-year-old Jason Dudley (7th, 1:20:41) deserve a mention — both veterans finishing inside the top ten in a competitive field, with 45-year-old Cedric Clotilde also cracking the top ten in 10th at 1:21:48.
