F50-54: Lidia Santos dominates, while Fresno's finest pack the podium

• Tight battle for 5th–7th: Martha Soto (2:08:50), Kimberly Curnutte (2:08:58), and Kathy Bentley (2:09:12) — three finishers separated by just 22 seconds.
• Carmen Pedraza faded on the back half, slipping from 25th to 40th among women on the 10K-to-finish leg, yet still held 2nd in F50-54 at 1:51:37.
• 47 women finished in the F50-54 age group, with the top 20 spanning a range of 7:51/mi down to roughly 11:33/mi.

Lidia Santos, 54, from Castroville, made this one look almost easy. Her 1:42:53 finish at a 7:51/mi clip put her nearly nine minutes ahead of runner-up Carmen Pedraza — a margin that speaks for itself in a 47-woman field. Santos also moved through the women's field on the back half, climbing from 16th to 13th among all women after the 10K mark, posting the 16th-fastest women's split on that closing stretch. At 54, she was the oldest athlete on the F50-54 podium, which makes the performance all the more striking.

Pedraza, 50, of Fresno, crossed in 1:51:37 (8:31/mi) to claim 2nd, though the 10K-to-finish leg was a harder chapter for her — she slipped from 25th to 40th among women over that stretch. Christine Almon, 53, also of Fresno, ran the opposite story: she moved from 85th to 63rd among women on that same closing segment, posting the 52nd-fastest women's split there, and finished 3rd in 1:56:58 (8:55/mi). Fourth went to Amy Royston, 50, in 2:03:13, who likewise gained ground late, climbing from 121st to 100th among women after the 10K.

The race for 5th through 7th was where things got genuinely tense. Martha Soto (2:08:50), Kimberly Curnutte (2:08:58), and Kathy Bentley (2:09:12) finished in a 22-second window — Soto had faded on the back half, dropping from 111th to 138th among women, leaving just enough daylight for Curnutte and Bentley to close but not quite catch her. Stacey Faught (2:09:50) and Beatriz Monzon (2:10:03) rounded out the top nine, with Laurie Henkel just missing the sub-2:11 mark at 2:10:58.
