M15-19 Half Marathon: Julio Carrillo Wins a Tight Two-City Duel

The top of the M15-19 age group belonged to two teenagers who ran the Two Cities Half Marathon at a level that would turn heads in any field. Julio Carrillo of Fresno crossed in 1:29:07 — a 6:48/mi clip — to claim the age group win. Trujillo of Tulare was right behind him, finishing in 1:29:46 at 6:51/mi. Those paces are clearly distinct, but the gap of just 39 seconds over 13.1 miles tells you Trujillo was never far back. Carrillo ran the stronger second half, posting the 34th-fastest 10K→Finish split in the women's field, while Trujillo's 22nd-fastest split on that same stretch actually outpaced him there — meaning Trujillo closed harder but couldn't quite reel in the early advantage Carrillo had built.

Third place went to Zachary Ganzenhuber, 17, of Fresno in 1:36:37 (7:22/mi). His second-half surge was one of the more notable moves in the group — he climbed from 67th to 40th in the women's field over the 10K→Finish stretch, a sign that he was running his best miles when many others were fading.

From there, the field spread out considerably. Vachan Vishwanath, 19, of Clovis finished 4th in 1:42:15 (7:48/mi), followed by his fellow Clovis runner Vedanth Vishwanath — also 19 — in 5th at 1:45:22 (8:02/mi). Joe Joe Januse, 16, took 6th in 1:48:54, with Vincent Marquez (7th, 1:49:09) and Jack Bentley (8th, 1:50:48) rounding out a tight cluster separated by less than two minutes. Hector Davila finished 9th at 1:51:03 and Tony Arellano 10th at 1:52:37, while Neil Shah completed the listed field in 20th at 2:38:29 (12:05/mi).
