Rebecca Kirlin, 56, of Fresno ran the F55-59 field into the ground from the front. Her 1:48:27 at an 8:16/mi clip wasn't just a win — it was a statement, with a gap of nearly a minute and forty seconds over Luisa Coronel's 1:50:06. Coronel, 57, from Tulare, held second but faded over the back half, dropping from 17th to 36th among women with the 67th-fastest women's split on the 10K-to-finish leg — a sign that Kirlin's early pace took its toll on the field behind her.

The real drama in F55-59 played out in the battle for 3rd through 5th. Ali Sena (1:51:18) and the anonymous 4th-place finisher (1:53:35) both came alive after the 10K mark, each posting top-40 women's splits on the closing segment to claw their way up the overall women's standings. Sena edged the anonymous finisher by 2:17, and the pair of them put nearly a minute of daylight on Benoit (1:54:40), who couldn't match their late-race pace.

Pamela Plyler (6th, 1:58:44) and Bonnie Savage (7th, 2:01:21) rounded out the sub-two-hour contingent, with Laura Gross (8th, 2:03:32) just outside that mark. The field of 31 spread out considerably from there, with the 20th finisher crossing at 2:38:49 — a range that speaks to the variety of paces and goals across this competitive age group on the streets of Fresno.
