Brian Kiler made the M45-49 race his own from the outset. The 47-year-old from San Carlos held 5th among the men throughout and never wavered, crossing in 42:30 at a 6:50/mi clip. That's a margin of 2 minutes and 38 seconds over runner-up Dustin Stubbs — a gap that tells you everything about how this race played out up front. His 9th-fastest 1M→Finish split among the men underscores just how clean his effort was across the full distance.

Stubbs, 48, from Fresno, ran a composed 45:08 (7:16/mi) to secure 2nd, but the real drama in this group was the battle for 3rd. Juan Marquez (49, Fresno) and Rob York (49, Georgetown) ran nearly the entire race in each other's pockets, with Marquez fading from 19th among the men at the mile mark to 24th at the finish, and York slipping from 21st to 26th — both giving back ground to the men's field in the closing stretch. Marquez held on for 3rd in 49:53, with York 22 seconds back in 4th at 50:15. Brandon Smith rounded out the top five in 51:02.

Behind the top five, the field spread out considerably. Michael Montez (56:02), Enrique Jimenez (56:11), and Sandy Layne (56:55) clustered in the 9:00–9:10/mi range for 6th through 8th, before the group stretched further back through David Shifflet (59:14) and a dozen more finishers between 1:00 and 1:12.
