Two Cities Marathon 10K — F60-64: Fiorentino Dominates with a Sub-50 Finish

• Marian Fiorentino won the F60-64 age group in 49:03 (7:54/mi), finishing nearly 5 minutes clear of runner-up Susan Bonds (53:50).
• Fiorentino climbed from 8th to 5th among women in the final mile, posting the 8th-fastest women's split on that closing stretch.
• Romelia Uribe made the most dramatic move of the age group in the final mile, surging from 137th to 78th among women to claim 3rd in 1:03:42.
• At the back, Ellen Field (1:51:06) and Janell Bandy (1:51:07) finished just one second apart for 10th and 11th.

Marian Fiorentino of Arroyo Grande put on a clinic in the F60-64 age group, crossing in 49:03 at 7:54 per mile — a pace that left the field behind from the start. Her 4-minute, 47-second margin over Susan Bonds (53:50, 8:40/mi) was comfortable and decisive, and she wasn't done making moves: that 8th-fastest women's split on the final 1M-to-Finish stretch shows she was still running people down at the end, climbing from 8th to 5th among all women in that closing segment.

Bonds, a Fresno local, held 2nd in 53:50 but gave a little ground in the final mile, sliding from 12th to 14th among women as others came on strong. Romelia Uribe — also of Fresno — was the age group's most dramatic closer, moving from 137th to 78th among women in that final stretch with the 72nd-fastest women's split on the segment, finishing 3rd in 1:03:42. Theresa Olsson of Madera took 4th in 1:13:31 but faded in the closing mile, dropping from 77th to 149th among women. Maria Toles rounded out the top five in 1:18:19.

The middle of the field spread across a wide range of paces, from Dora Papion's 6th-place 1:21:35 through Adriana Navato's 8th in 1:26:58 and Cathy Aguilera's 9th in 1:32:22. At the very back, the closest finish of the age group played out between Ellen Field and Janell Bandy — 10th and 11th in 1:51:06 and 1:51:07 respectively — before Judy Rouse completed all 12 finishers in 2:02:06.
