Two Cities 10K — F55-59: Camoroda Dominates from Wire to Wire

• 8:09 gap to second place: Mary Ford crossed in 1:01:36, the largest winning margin in the age group.
• Marie Cain's late fade: Cain held 24th among women at the 1-mile mark before slipping to 70th by the finish — the most dramatic position change in the group.
• Tight battle for third and fourth: Ofelia Maldonado (1:02:21) and Marie Cain (1:03:11) were separated by just 50 seconds for the final podium spots.

Sara Camoroda, 58, of Fresno, was simply in a different race. Her 53:27 finish at 8:36/mi wasn't just a win — it was a statement. While the bulk of the F55-59 field settled into the 10:00–11:00/mi range, Camoroda was already pulling away. Her closing stretch told the same story: the 13th-fastest women's split from the 1-mile mark to the finish, she was surging through the broader women's field even as she widened the gap on her own age group, moving from 46th among women at mile one all the way up to 13th by the tape.

Mary Ford (1:01:36, 9:55/mi) and Ofelia Maldonado (1:02:21, 10:02/mi) claimed second and third, running within a minute of each other and posting similar closing paces. Fourth-place Marie Cain, however, had a very different afternoon. She came through the opening mile in 24th among women — suggesting a fast early start — but her 10:10/mi average and a drop to 70th among women by the finish point to a second half that didn't match her opening effort. Krystyna Sarro (1:04:49) rounded out the top five with a similar pattern, fading from 57th to 83rd among women over the closing miles.

Behind the top five, Laura Dierberger (6th, 1:08:22) led a steady procession of finishers through the 1:12–1:35 range, with Jennifer Ogawa (7th, 1:12:12), Sandra Lee (8th, 1:13:24), and Gia Shirley (9th, 1:14:42) filling out a competitive middle pack. All 27 finishers in the F55-59 age group got it done on the streets of Fresno — Camoroda just happened to do it faster than anyone else by a considerable margin.
