Two Cities 10K — F20-24: Sara Tuck runs away with it

• Sara Tuck won the F20-24 age group in 51:13 (8:15/mi), finishing more than 10 minutes clear of the field and posting the 10th-fastest women's split from the 1-mile mark to the finish.
• Makayla Cawley took 2nd in 1:01:51, climbing from 90th to 62nd among women on the final stretch with the 63rd-fastest women's split on that segment.
• Ying Yan (3rd, 1:04:39) ran the opposite arc — entering the 1M→Finish segment 64th among women but fading to 82nd, posting the 89th-fastest women's split over that stretch.
• Places 5–6–7 were a genuine cluster: Rebecca Christianson (5th, 1:17:21), Sam Shields (6th, 1:17:26), and Brooke Wristen (7th, 1:17:45) finished within 24 seconds of each other.

Sara Tuck simply had a different race than everyone else in the F20-24 field. The 23-year-old from Clovis crossed in 51:13 — a pace of 8:15 per mile — and her 10th-fastest women's split on the 1M-to-finish segment tells you the gap wasn't just about an early burst. She moved from 11th to 8th among all women as the race closed out, finishing more than ten minutes ahead of 2nd place in a 13-runner field.

Makayla Cawley made the most of the back half of the course, climbing 28 spots among women from the 1-mile mark to the line to claim 2nd in 1:01:51. Ying Yan, meanwhile, ran a different kind of race — she was 64th among women at 1 mile but slipped to 82nd by the finish, still holding 3rd in the age group with a 1:04:39 effort. Lindsay Decker rounded out the top four in 1:08:11, also gaining ground late (128th to 104th among women) on the closing segment.

The race's tightest action came further back, where Christianson, Shields, and Wristen essentially ran together from start to finish — 5th through 7th separated by just 24 seconds across 6.2 miles. Allyson Tan (10th, 1:19:59) and Michelle Espinoza (9th, 1:19:58) were nearly inseparable as well, one second apart at the line. Juana Gifford completed the field in 1:29:13 to close out all 13 finishers in F20-24.
