• Benjamin Albers took the M30-34 title in 29:22 (5:54/mi), climbing from 20th to 16th among men by the halfway point and locking it in with the 17th-fastest men's split on the second half.
• Erik Williams closed hard with the 23rd-fastest men's split on the 4M→Finish stretch, finishing 2nd in 30:18 — 56 seconds back but clearly the strongest finisher in the back half.
• Philip Stickney made the biggest positional surge of anyone in the top five, climbing from 90th to 48th among men en route to 4th place in 32:30.
• Calvin Hensler (34:31) and Alexander Kerschl (34:33) finished just 2 seconds apart for 6th and 7th — the tightest gap in the top ten.

Benjamin Albers, representing Morrison, CO, made the trip to Virginia Beach pay off in a big way. Running a steady 5:54/mi through 62°F conditions with a light ocean breeze, Albers was already moving through the men's field by the midpoint — sitting 16th among men — and then backed it up with the 17th-fastest men's second-half split to seal the M30-34 win in 29:22. There was no late wobble, just consistent pressure from start to finish.

Erik Williams out of Amazonia, MO, was the story of the second half. He entered the final stretch 25th among men and finished 22nd, posting the 23rd-fastest men's split from 4M to the finish line. His 30:18 was a clear 56 seconds behind Albers, but his closing speed made him the most dangerous finisher in the group over those last miles. Brian Quintana (3rd, 31:53) held his position more steadily, moving from 36th to 40th among men — solid, if not a mover.

The chase pack behind the podium offered its own drama. Philip Stickney's charge — from 90th among men at the first checkpoint all the way to 48th at the finish — was the most dramatic positional climb in the top five, earning him 4th in 32:30. Ed Legaspi rounded out the top five in 33:46, posting the 60th-fastest men's split on the middle 2M→4M segment. Further back, 267 men finished M30-34 in total, with Kevin Wilfong closing out the top 20 in 37:55.
