The 56-year-old from Fairfax held 24th among all women at every checkpoint tracked — no drama, no surge needed — and crossed in 36:53 at a crisp 7:25-per-mile pace. That's a margin of 1:12 over Linda Hatfield of Holly Springs, NC, who ran a steady 38:05 (7:40/mi) to claim second. Mardiny Ung of Elizabethtown, PA rounded out the podium in 38:33, just 28 seconds behind Hatfield and similarly consistent through the middle miles.

The gap from third to fourth was notable: Donna Anderson of Rochester, NY came in at 40:01, a full 1:28 back of Ung, and Lisa Pron of Millstone Township, NJ followed closely at 40:13. Those two ran nearly in lockstep — 8:03 and 8:05 per mile, respectively — to hold off a tightly packed group through the mid-field.
