Two Cities Marathon 5K — M35-39: Zweigle runs away with it

• Quinn Zweigle (20:45, 6:41/mi) won the M35-39 group by 1 minute 33 seconds — the largest winning margin in the age group.
• Anthony Bronco finished a clear 2nd in 22:18 (7:11/mi), more than two and a half minutes ahead of the podium battle behind him.
• Richard Condoian (24:48) and Samuel Garcia (24:55) fought out 3rd and 4th, separated by just seven seconds after 3.1 miles.
• 19 finishers spread across a remarkable 41-minute range, from Zweigle's 20:45 to James Stephens' 1:02:43.

Quinn Zweigle of Visalia was simply in a different gear on Sunday. His 6:41/mi average was sharp enough to put 1:33 between himself and the field before Anthony Bronco crossed the line in 22:18. Bronco, running at 7:11/mi, held 2nd comfortably — his gap back to the podium fight was more than twice the margin Zweigle put on him.

The real drama in the M35-39 group played out for the bronze. Richard Condoian (35, Fresno) and Samuel Garcia (36, Fresno) ran nearly side by side through the course, finishing in 24:48 and 24:55 respectively — seven seconds the difference between 3rd and 4th after more than three miles of racing. Nicholas Otero rounded out the top five in 26:09, about 1:14 back of Garcia.

The middle of the field — Mario Graciano (6th, 29:09) through Rudy Rivera (8th, 30:20) — clustered within roughly 70 seconds of each other around the 29–30 minute range, while Amrinder Sra (9th, 34:28) and Sue Vang (10th, 34:34) staged their own tight finish, just six seconds apart. At the back, Brinder Bassi (16th, 59:10) and Harmanjit Dhaliwal (17th, 59:11) crossed nearly simultaneously, with James Lundberg (18th, 1:00:16) and James Stephens (19th, 1:02:43) completing all 19 finishers in the group.
