Two Cities Marathon 5K — M30-34: Saephan Takes the Age Group Title

• Trevor Saephan (Clovis, CA) won the M30-34 group in 26:45 (8:37/mi), finishing 13 seconds ahead of runner-up Esteban Gonzalez.
• The top five were tightly bunched, all finishing within 65 seconds of each other — then a gap of over 90 seconds back to 6th place.
• Heriberto Jimenez (41:20) and Alexander Duran (41:21) finished 12th and 13th with just one second separating them across 3.1 miles.

Trevor Saephan made his 8:37/mi pace look controlled and purposeful, crossing in 26:45 to claim the M30-34 title on the streets of Fresno. Esteban Gonzalez of Kingsburg pushed him, finishing 13 seconds back in 26:58 at 8:41/mi — close enough to keep the pressure on, but Saephan never let it become a real threat. Edward Martinez rounded out the podium in 27:18, just 20 seconds behind Gonzalez and running a steady 8:47/mi.

The real story in the M30-34 group was just how competitive the top half of the field was. Brendan O'Donnell (Hanford) finished 4th in 27:27, and Rafa Sanchez wrapped up the top five in 27:50 — meaning five men finished within 65 seconds of each other. After Sanchez, the field opened up, with Juan Carlos Flores taking 6th in 29:29 and Leon Bui right behind him in 29:36.

Deeper in the field, a quiet duel resolved itself at the line between Heriberto Jimenez and Alexander Duran — 12th and 13th respectively — who finished in 41:20 and 41:21, one second apart after covering the full 5K together. The 17-man group stretched all the way to John Yang, who completed the course in 1:11:12 to claim every finisher's spot that mattered: the finish line itself.
