M13-15 at Shamrock'n 10K: Mccabe Runs Away with It

• Christian Mccabe, 14, won the M13-15 group in 38:42 (6:14/mi) — nearly six minutes clear of runner-up Roland Pelia.
• Pelia's second half was his stronger half, posting the 19th-fastest split on the 5K-to-finish stretch among the men and climbing seven places in the men's field over that segment.
• A tight battle for 6th–8th: Ishaan Patil, Anthony Cross, and Jaime Espinosa finished within 21 seconds of each other — Patil at 1:02:44, Cross at 1:02:54, and 13-year-old Espinosa at 1:03:05.
• Youngest on the podium: all three podium finishers are 14, while the group's two 13-year-olds in the pack — Espinosa, Cabrera, and Wilson — showed up and got it done at a distance that demands real endurance.

Christian Mccabe was in a different race entirely. His 38:42 at 6:14 per mile put him well ahead of the 12-boy M13-15 field and had him moving through the broader men's race too — he climbed from 7th to 6th among the men over the back half, posting the 9th-fastest men's split on the 5K-to-finish segment. At 14 years old, that's a performance that demands attention.

Roland Pelia made his move in the second half as well, going from 29th to 22nd in the men's field over the final 5K. His 44:30 (7:10/mi) was a comfortable 5:48 margin over third-place Omar Calvillo Jr, who crossed in 48:20 at 7:47/mi. Calvillo also showed second-half life, climbing 23 spots in the men's field from the halfway mark to the finish.

Xavier Love and Pablo Pedroza slotted into 4th and 5th, finishing in 58:43 and 1:00:41 respectively — both fading slightly in the back half as their men's-field positions dropped. Then came the compressed middle pack: Patil, Cross, and Espinosa covered just 21 seconds across three places, making that stretch the race's most competitive cluster. Lilo Cabrera and Ethan Wilson, both 13, rounded out the main group, with Jayson Tilford and Mikey Fuson completing all 12 finishers in the M13-15 group.
