Shamrock'n 10K F13-15: Savannah Hansen Runs Away With It

• Savannah Hansen won the F13-15 age group in 42:49 (6:53/mi), finishing more than 5½ minutes clear of second place.
• Savannah held 3rd among women through 5K before slipping to 4th in the women's field by the finish — still a commanding result in a 13-girl field.
• Victoria Borge moved up three spots in the women's field over the final 5K, climbing from 37th to 34th, to claim 3rd in the age group in 53:36.
• Calla Wittenberg ran the first half strong enough to sit 34th in the women's field at 5K, but faded to 60th by the finish, allowing Madera Finarelli to hold 4th in the age group.

Cool and clear at 56°F, West Sacramento offered near-ideal conditions on race morning — and Savannah Hansen made the most of them. The 14-year-old from Sacramento went out hard and never looked back, running 6:53 per mile across the full 10K. Her margin over runner-up Sonia Brown was 5 minutes and 27 seconds, a gap that tells the story plainly: this was a dominant wire-to-wire performance.

Sonia Brown, also 14, took second in 48:16. Her second half was the stronger tactical note in the mid-pack story — she posted the 17th-fastest women's split on the back 5K, a solid close. Third went to 15-year-old Victoria Borge (53:36), who finished with purpose, picking off three spots in the women's field over the final half to seal her podium place.

The battle for fourth was decided by the second half. Madera Finarelli, the youngest on the podium at 13, came home in 55:25 and held her position. Calla Wittenberg, who had been sitting 11 spots ahead of Finarelli in the women's field at the 5K mark, faded on the back half and finished 9 minutes behind her at the line. Behind them, Aprilia Magana and Divya Kumar — both 13, both from Elk Grove — rounded out the top seven, with the rest of the 13-girl field spread across a wide range of finishing times.
