Sophie Faber turned in the standout performance of the F19-24 age group on a cool, clear Sacramento morning. Running 6:46 per mile across the full 10K, the 22-year-old from Sacramento opened the race in 4th place among women and then shifted gears in the back half — posting the 2nd-fastest women's split from 5K to the finish — to move up to 3rd among all women by the line. Her winning time of 42:01 was in a different stratosphere from the rest of the age group.

Jenna Magel, also from Sacramento, claimed 2nd in 47:22 and was quietly excellent in the second half, recording the 9th-fastest women's split on the closing 5K leg to move from 12th to 10th among all women. The gap between 1st and 2nd — over five minutes — was the defining gulf of the race, but Magel was never under threat for the runner-up spot.

The real drama unfolded in the battle for 3rd through 8th, where six runners finished within 1:35 of each other. Maria Vargas (53:00) held off Bianca Alvarez (53:27) and Taylor Hauft (53:39) for the final podium spot, though Alvarez was the one charging hardest at the end — climbing nine spots among women in the second half with the 30th-fastest closing split among women. Hauft, by contrast, faded from 27th to 36th among women after the midpoint. Lucy Vazquez (53:57), Jazmine Marin (54:30), and Shasta Bagwell (54:35) rounded out a closely packed top eight.
