Shamrock'n 10K F25-29: Amburgey Runs Away With It

In a field of 157 women aged 25–29, Caitlin Amburgey of Sacramento made this look like a different race than everyone else was running. Her 40:55 — a 6:35-per-mile clip on a mild March morning — put her more than seven minutes ahead of Emily Bolander in 2nd. That's not a gap; that's a statement. She led among all women from the opening 5K through the tape, and then went ahead and ran the fastest women's split on the back half for good measure.

Behind her, the real racing happened in the 48- to 52-minute range. Bolander (48:15) and Quinn O'Hanlon (50:57) secured 2nd and 3rd, while Kara Romani made the most interesting move of the podium battle — she was 21st among women at the halfway mark and worked her way up to 19th by the finish, landing 4th in the age group at 51:38. Olivia Mesecar, running just 32 seconds behind Romani, went the other direction: she was 18th among women at 5K and slipped to 22nd by the end, settling for 5th at 52:10.

Further down the results, the finish-line drama came in a cluster around 58:11. Dallely Ibal and Michelle Occhipinti were inseparable on the clock — both showing 58:11 — but Ibal got there first, beating Occhipinti by 0.37 seconds to claim 17th in the age group. Carrie Barrett was right behind them both at 58:12, making it three runners within a single second.
