Shamrock'n 5K M1-12: Puffer Leads a Lightning-Fast Top Three

• Colin Puffer, 12, wins in 20:45 (6:41/mi) — a commanding margin of 16 seconds over runner-up Henry Powell.
• The top three all broke 21:30, with Rowan Rathbun rounding out the podium in 21:21 (6:52/mi) — a gap of 1:41 back to 4th place.
• Alexander Kennedy, age 6, crossed in 29:42 — one of the youngest in the field and a standout just for toeing the line.
• 53 boys ages 1–12 finished the Shamrock'n 5K on a crisp 54°F morning in West Sacramento.

Colin Puffer of Roseville ran the M1-12 field into submission, clocking 20:45 at a 6:41/mi clip to take the win by 16 seconds. Behind him, 11-year-old Henry Powell of West Sacramento gave him the closest chase, finishing in 21:01 (6:46/mi) — a notably faster pace than the third finisher but not quite enough to close the gap. Rowan Rathbun, just 10 years old out of El Dorado Hills, completed a remarkable podium in 21:21 (6:52/mi). What makes that top three special: a 12-year-old, an 11-year-old, and a 10-year-old, in that order, all running sub-7:00 miles.

Then the field spread out. Eli Horn finished 4th in 23:02 — a full 1:41 behind Rathbun — and Everett Lee (24:09) and Uriah Andresen (24:49) rounded out the top six. From there, a tight cluster formed in the 24–25 minute range, with Devendra Sharkey-Gill (24:55) and Zayden Morris (25:19) keeping the competition honest through 8th place.

Further back, the race told a different but equally compelling story. Nine-year-old Grayson Myers ran 27:07 for 9th, and a group of five runners — Mateo Brazil-Cruz through Aiden Dominic — finished within 11 seconds of each other between 27:30 and 27:41.
