Carson Peters didn't race the M13-15 field at the Shamrock'n 5K — he lapped it. The 15-year-old from West Sacramento crossed in 19:13, averaging 6:11 per mile on a cool, clear St. Patrick's Day morning in West Sacramento. The next finisher, Keller Douglas, didn't appear for another 64 seconds. In a 5K, that's not a gap — it's a statement.

Behind Peters, the real competition was a compact battle for the podium. Douglas (14, Sacramento) held second in 20:17, with Jovany Luna (15) just 21 seconds back in 20:38. William Cromwell, the youngest of the group at 13, made it interesting by slotting into 4th at 20:49 — only 11 seconds off Luna and well ahead of 5th-place Sawyer Griffin's 21:51. Cromwell's 6:42/mi pace against older competitors was quietly one of the afternoon's better stories.

The middle of the field offered its own drama. Caleb Mills and Blake Barawed — both 14 — ran the entire race to within a single second of each other, finishing 13th and 14th in 24:45 and 24:46 respectively. That's 3.1 miles of racing to produce a one-second margin. Meanwhile, the field spread out considerably beyond 5th place, with Sawyer Griffin's 21:51 and Liam Doan's 22:56 marking a clear second tier before the group settled into the mid-to-upper 23s. All told, 31 boys ages 13–15 finished on the morning — Peters simply made it look like a different race entirely.
