Behind the top two, Maddison Orr of West Sacramento made it an all-12-year-old podium with her 23:54. Then came the day's most eyebrow-raising result: Bailey Quok, age 8, crossed in 24:16 at 7:49 per mile to take 4th — beating five finishers who had four years of growing on her. Ella Avila and Natalie Russell rounded out the top six, both finishing within a minute of each other in the 25s.

The race's closest moment came deep in the standings. Marylou O'Neill and Iris Drewes, both 11, ran the entire 5K to finish in what the clock read as identical 28:43 — but timing to the hundredths told the real story: O'Neill took 8th by 0.64 seconds. At the other end of the age spectrum, 6-year-old Juliette Cardenas finished 10th in 28:59, a remarkable effort that placed her ahead of 37 older competitors.
