Shamrock'n 5K: Tracy Parrott Dominates the F55-59 Field

• Tracy Parrott (56, Sacramento) won the F55-59 age group in 21:54 — a 7:03/mi pace that put her 1 minute and 25 seconds clear of 2nd place.
• The top-two gap was decisive: Traci Seto ran a strong 23:19 (7:30/mi) for 2nd, but Parrott was simply in another gear — the margin between 2nd and 3rd (Lena Avedissian, 26:46) was even wider at 3:27.
• A tight cluster at 9th and 10th: Rachel Moses (32:55) and Susan Nelsen (32:57) were separated by just two seconds — close enough to feel the footsteps.
• 110 women finished in the F55-59 age group on a crisp 54°F morning in West Sacramento.

Tracy Parrott made the F55-59 race her own from the gun. Her 21:54 finish — averaging 7:03 per mile across 3.1 miles — was the kind of performance that renders the competition a battle for the remaining podium spots. Traci Seto from Wilton gave chase and earned a well-deserved 2nd with her 23:19, but the gap to Parrott never looked like closing.

Third place went to Lena Avedissian of El Dorado Hills in 26:46, completing a podium spread of nearly five minutes from top to bottom — a reflection of just how dominant Parrott was at the front. Behind the podium, Tina Hoffmann (Mead, WA) and Jean Hobler (Sacramento) rounded out the top five in 29:05 and 30:34 respectively, with Hoffmann the lone out-of-state finisher in the top 20.

The middle of the field offered its own drama. Rachel Moses and Susan Nelsen — both 58, both from the Sacramento area — crossed in 32:55 and 32:57 to claim 9th and 10th, a two-second gap that had to feel excruciating for Nelsen. Leslie Wilson and Dawn Heins matched each other to the second at 34:46 and 34:48 for 14th and 15th, another near-mirror finish deep in the pack. With 110 finishers spread across a 15-minute range, the F55-59 age group was one of the day's deepest and most competitive fields on a clear, cool St. Patrick's Day weekend morning.
