Annabel Stafford, 23, from North Grafton, MA, turned the F20-24 race into a solo time trial. She held the lead among women from the gun, briefly slipped to 4th between 10K and 15K, then reasserted herself and never looked back. Running 5:49 per mile across 13.1 miles in 71°F heat with a 17 mph wind off the Virginia Beach coast is a performance that needs no embellishment — it simply stands alone.

Behind her, the battle for 2nd through 5th was genuinely absorbing. Eliza Dana, 22, ran a measured 7:10/mi to finish in 1:33:58, holding a steady position around 35th among women throughout. Conrad, 20, was the group's great mover — she was buried in the field early but ran the 15K–20K segment with real purpose, the 27th-fastest women's split on that stretch, climbing steadily to claim 3rd in 1:34:38.

DiLorenzo and Shatz made it a four-way scramble for the final two podium spots. DiLorenzo was the more consistent presence in the top 40 among women for most of the race, but Shatz — who was 75th among women at 5K — unleashed the 9th-fastest women's closing split and nearly caught her. Four seconds separated them at the line: DiLorenzo 4th in 1:34:44, Shatz 5th in 1:34:48. In those conditions, that kind of finish is earned.
