The 15-year-old from Virginia Beach sat 39th among women through the early checkpoints, drifted back slightly through the middle miles — a 71°F day with 17 mph winds off the coast will do that — then reasserted herself when it mattered most, moving back up to 36th among women by the finish. Hannah Clarke had the most dramatic journey of the day. Starting conservatively, she was 103rd among women at the first checkpoint and looked like a long shot for the podium. Then she simply didn't stop moving forward — 103rd to 78th to 67th to 47th to 46th. Her 21st-fastest women's split on the 15K–20K segment was the decisive surge, and she crossed in 1:34:58, just 57 seconds behind Barley. That gap is real, but the trajectory was Clarke's.

Emily Yates ran the opposite race. The 16-year-old was 34th among women through 5K — well clear of her age-group rivals — but the pace took its toll, and she slipped to 82nd among women by the finish. Third place in 1:39:27 is still a strong result in these conditions, though the 5:26 gap back to Barley reflects how much ground she gave up in the second half. Behind her, Tierney and Axtell ran nearly identical races to the wire, with 77 athletes in total completing the F15-19 field across a tough Virginia Beach afternoon.
