N30-34 Women's Half Marathon: Mohammadi dominates from wire to wire

• Ramin Mohammadi won the N30-34 age group in 1:42:28 (7:49/mi), never relinquishing the lead and posting the fastest women's split on the 5K→10K segment.
• Mackenzie Maison claimed 2nd in 2:21:05 — nearly 39 minutes back — while Katharyn Dembowski rounded out the podium in 2:41:59.
• Ravynn Sykes completed all four finishers in the group, crossing in 3:39:39 at a 16:45/mi pace in what were genuinely tough conditions: 71°F, 73% humidity, and a 17 mph wind off the Virginia Beach coast.

Ramin Mohammadi made this one look straightforward. Holding 1st among the women from the opening checkpoint through the finish, she never faced a challenge to her lead and capped it with the fastest women's split on the 5K-to-10K stretch — the sharpest section of the race for her age group. At 7:49/mi over 13.1 miles in heat and humidity that would have tested anyone, the margin she built was decisive.

Behind her, Mackenzie Maison and Katharyn Dembowski each held their positions steadily through the race. Maison, who dropped from 2nd to 3rd among the women mid-race before settling into 4th overall among women by the finish, crossed in 2:21:05 — a gap of nearly 39 minutes to Mohammadi, but a solid 20-plus minutes clear of Dembowski in 3rd. Dembowski, running out of King George, VA, held 4th among the women throughout and finished in 2:41:59.

Ravynn Sykes brought it home in 3:39:39 — the final finisher in the N30-34 group and the one who arguably faced the full brunt of those conditions longest, spending nearly two hours more on course than Mohammadi. At 16:45/mi, finishing a half marathon on a 71-degree, windy Virginia Beach morning is no small thing, and she saw it through to the end.
