That gap doesn't happen by accident on a muggy May morning in Cleveland.

Behind Raymond, North Royalton's Michelle Hrehocik and Bay Village's Kristy Fritz staged the race's most compelling battle. Hrehocik crossed in 43:30, Fritz in 43:43 — 13 seconds the difference between 2nd and 3rd in a field of 214. From there, the pack spread out noticeably: Katie Szefcyk (4th, 45:55) and Katherine Wozniak (5th, 46:16) ran together in spirit if not shoulder-to-shoulder, separated by just 21 seconds but more than two minutes behind the podium.

Worth noting: the top 10 included three women in their 50s. Marissa Cancilla (50, Strongsville) finished 7th in 48:13, and Janet Winslow (53, Elyria) was right behind her in 8th at 48:19 — a six-second gap that kept things interesting deep into the standings. Holly Baker (53, Solon) added a 9th-place finish at 49:31, making it clear that the back half of the top 10 belonged to the more experienced end of this field. In a race where conditions demanded discipline, those three delivered it.
