George Gonzales, the oldest man in the M65-69 group at 69, was also its fastest — and he got stronger as the miles wore on. His gender place climbed from 186th to 142nd in the second half, a 44-spot move that underscores a race run with discipline and a sharp finish. At 8:10/mi, he was a full 10 seconds per mile faster than runner-up Steve Keplinger, and that gap tells the real story: this wasn't close at the front.

Keplinger (65, Clovis) held 2nd in 1:49:08 at 8:20/mi, but his trajectory through the men's field told a different tale — sliding from 139th to 151st to 165th, a steady fade in the second half. Andy Macias (68, Porterville) mirrored that pattern, drifting from 220th to 163rd and back to 200th, but he still held 3rd in 1:52:19. Both men ran strong first halves and paid for it; Gonzales ran the opposite race.

Behind the podium, Kirby Schlotterback (69, Fresno) posted the group's most dramatic positional climb, moving from 516th to 334th among men to finish 4th in 2:05:23. Jim Mascarenaz (65, Wheat Ridge, CO) crossed 5th in 2:12:34, while Steve Petersen (66) and Ruben Navarro (69) finished within 21 seconds of each other — 6th in 2:15:27 and 7th in 2:15:48 — to close out a tightly bunched middle tier.
