F25-29 Half Marathon: Fernandez dominates, O'Connor storms through the field

• Hailey Fernandez won the F25-29 age group in 1:33:30 (7:08/mi), climbing from 8th to 4th among all women by the finish — including the 8th-fastest women's split on the 10K-to-finish stretch.
• Megan O'Connor posted the 11th-fastest women's split from mile 1 to 10K, rocketing from 23rd to 9th among women in that stretch on her way to 2nd in the age group in 1:38:30.
• Just 70 seconds separated 3rd through 6th place (1:47:36 to 1:49:39), making the back half of the podium one of the most competitive stretches of the morning.
• Sarah Cusack (6th, 1:49:39) and Daisy Miguel (7th, 1:49:42) finished just three seconds apart after 13.1 miles.

Hailey Fernandez made the F25-29 race look like a controlled demolition. The 26-year-old from Clovis ran 7:08/mi to finish in 1:33:30 — a full five minutes ahead of second place — and spent the back half of the race steadily climbing the overall women's field, moving from 8th to 4th among all women. Her 10K-to-finish split ranked 8th among all women in the race, meaning she got faster when others were fading.

Megan O'Connor was the story of the first half. The 28-year-old from Livermore ran the 11th-fastest women's split from mile 1 through 10K, surging from 23rd to 9th among all women in that stretch. She held on to finish 2nd in the age group in 1:38:30 (7:31/mi) — a strong result, though Fernandez had already built an insurmountable lead by that point.

Behind them, the race for the remaining podium spots was genuinely tight. Allie Rueter (29, Tucson) ran the 28th-fastest women's 10K-to-finish split to climb from 74th to 30th among all women, finishing 3rd in 1:47:36. Sydney Ramos, who had been as high as 7th among all women through the opening mile, faded to 4th in 1:48:46 — a reminder that early position doesn't guarantee a late one. Jasmine Carion rounded out the top five in 1:49:15, just 29 seconds behind Ramos.

The 6th-through-7th battle was a race within the race: Sarah Cusack (1:49:39) and Daisy Miguel (1:49:42) were separated by just three seconds after covering 13.1 miles together. Rebekah Weimer took 8th in 1:51:15, Carissa Celum 9th in 1:51:38, and Kimberly Simo rounded out the top ten in 1:52:20 — all in a 117-finisher age group that ran deep and competitive from front to back.
