Adrian Abundiz made his mark early and never let up. The 15-year-old from Madera covered the 10K at 5:58/mi — a pace that would be serious in any age group — and crossed in 37:06, building enough of a cushion that runner-up Ray Cuevas finished a full 2:13 back at 39:19. Abundiz also posted the 8th-fastest split on the final push to the finish among the men's field, confirming he didn't coast it in.

Behind Cuevas, fellow 15-year-old Mark Seiler came home 3rd in 40:23 (6:30/mi), making it an all-15-year-old podium in a group that included athletes up to age 19. The only 18-year-old in the top five, Elijah Samaniego, finished 4th in 41:15 — 52 seconds behind Seiler — while Tyler Teddleton rounded out the top five in 42:13, running 6:48/mi.

The race had a noticeable split in the field around the 45-minute mark. Staebler (45:12) and Gonzalez (45:19) ran nearly stride for stride through the closing miles, with just seven seconds separating them at the line.
