Shamrock Marathon F45-49: Tiffany Read Runs Away from the Field

Tiffany Read of Decatur, TX turned the F45-49 race into a one-woman time trial. Starting well back — 94th among women at the first checkpoint — she spent the entire race cutting through the women's field with relentless forward momentum. By the 35K-to-25.2-mile stretch she was posting the 11th-fastest women's split on that segment, and she crossed in 3:25:54 at a 7:51/mi clip. That's a 12:30 margin over 2nd place — a commanding wire-to-wire surge that ended with her 27th among all women.

Behind her, the race for the podium was decided by a matter of heartbeats. Amy Molloy (Chelmsford, MA) and Amy Nalven (Brick Township, NJ) crossed in 3:38:24 and 3:38:28 respectively — four seconds apart after 26.2 miles. Molloy had run near the front of the women's field from the gun, posting the 54th-fastest women's split on the opening 5K→10K segment before gradually fading in the standings. Nalven took the opposite path, climbing from 109th among women at 5K all the way to 66th by the finish, with the 49th-fastest women's split on the 35K→25.2M stretch powering her late charge. She nearly caught Molloy — but nearly wasn't enough.

Kate Parker (Roswell, GA) rounded out the top four in 3:39:07, just 39 seconds behind Nalven after a race that mirrored her rival's trajectory — moving steadily from 107th among women at 5K to 69th at the finish. Mary Lyons (Glassboro, NJ) took 5th in 3:42:08, and Crista Owens (Lima, OH) claimed 6th in 3:43:40 to close out a competitive top half-dozen. In 55°F conditions with 95% humidity and an 11 mph wind off the Virginia Beach coast, every one of those times was earned the hard way.
