Rocket City Half Marathon: Nemeth rules the F65-69 group

• Sheri Nemeth won the F65-69 age group in 1:57:17 (8:57/mi), finishing 35th among all women.
• Pamela Campbell was 2nd in 2:05:08 — a gap of 7:51 back — and climbed from 75th to 61st among women over the final stretch.
• Cindy Moeller and Karen Paulukaitis, both of Madison, AL, separated by just 4:13, rounded out the group in 3:00:15 and 3:04:28 respectively.
• Nemeth posted the 37th-fastest women's split on the 10K-to-Finish segment; Campbell was right there with the 50th-fastest on the same stretch.

Sheri Nemeth of Elizabethton, TN set the tone for the F65-69 age group from start to finish, crossing the line in 1:57:17 at an 8:57/mi clip — a commanding performance that put nearly eight minutes between herself and the field. She also moved four places forward among all women (39th to 35th) over the back half of the course, a sign she was running with control and still had legs when it mattered.

Pamela Campbell of Hoffman, IL was the clear runner-up, clocking 2:05:08 and surging impressively through the women's field in the second half — jumping from 75th to 61st among women on the 10K-to-Finish segment, where she posted the 50th-fastest women's split. That closing move showed real strength, even if Nemeth was already well clear by then.

The local contingent of Cindy Moeller and Karen Paulukaitis, both from Madison, AL, completed the four-woman group. Moeller finished in 3:00:15 (13:45/mi) and Paulukaitis in 3:04:28 (14:04/mi) — a 4:13 gap between them, with both holding their positions steadily through the back half. On a mild December day in Huntsville, all four women got the job done.
