Boys 14-and-Under: Cosgrove Runs Away With It

• Michael Cosgrove, 13, won the M0-14 age group in 22:01 — a 7:05/mi pace that put him nearly 90 seconds clear of the field.
• Bryant Bowen, 12, took 2nd in 23:24, with Sam Barton, 14, rounding out the podium in 24:39.
• Arnav Singh, age 10, finished 4th in 27:39 — the highest finish among the under-11s in the group.
• Jai Narahari, age 6, completed the course in 36:57 — the youngest finisher among all 16 boys, crossing at an 11:54/mi pace.

Michael Cosgrove came out and made this race look easy. The 13-year-old from Huntsville posted a 7:05/mi pace over the full 5K, finishing in 22:01 and leaving the rest of the M0-14 field in his wake. Bryant Bowen, a 12-year-old from Birmingham, gave chase and earned 2nd in 23:24 — a solid run, but Cosgrove had already built a gap that was never seriously threatened. Sam Barton, 14, from Lexington, KY, completed a clean podium with his 24:39.

The middle of the pack told its own story. Arnav Singh, just 10 years old, turned in a 27:39 to finish 4th — impressive composure for his age, beating out three 13-year-olds in Brett Perry (28:42) and Noah Harbin (28:52), who were separated by only 10 seconds. Hugo Perrin, age 9, also punched above his years, crossing in 30:34 for 7th.

At the back of the field, the youngest competitors showed real grit. Eight-year-old Miron Shaiakhov finished 9th in 34:00, and six-year-old Jai Narahari — the youngest in the group — crossed the line in 36:57. All 16 boys finished, which on a mild December morning in Huntsville is a result worth noting on its own.
