The real drama unfolded behind him. Jewett held off Christopher Kitson (39:22) by 20 seconds for the runner-up spot, with Kitson running 6:20/mi to Jewett's 6:17 — a genuine catch-up effort that came up just short. Thomas Farias (4th, 40:50) finished another 88 seconds back, and then the race tightened considerably: Andrew Lindsay (42:14), Jacob Garcia (42:20), and Kendall Dock (42:29) compressed into a 15-second window across 5th, 6th, and 7th, with Lindsay — at 41 — leading that cluster home.

The story of the day beyond the podium belonged to Gerard Tamez. The 63-year-old from New Market finished 10th overall among the men in 45:22, running 7:18/mi — and this wasn't even his only race of the weekend. Tamez had already gone 6th among the men in the 5K at the same event, making his 10th-place 10K finish all the more impressive. Scott Sandlin (15th, 46:20) also returned to a course he knows well, having gone 5th here in 2022 with a 43:24 — a reminder that Rocket City keeps bringing runners back.
