Rocket City 10K — F50-54: Croushorn Laps the Field

• Julie Croushorn ran 43:42 (7:02/mi) — nearly 15 minutes faster than anyone else in the F50-54 group.
• Three runners — Garcia, Kaiser, and Osmer — finished within 58 seconds of each other, spanning 58:40 to 59:38.
• Spring Prince and Laurel Smith were separated by just 6 seconds (1:08:34 vs. 1:08:40) in 7th and 8th.
• Shannon Wagner and Jennifer McNeese finished 11th and 12th in 1:13:25 and 1:13:29 — four seconds apart after 6.2 miles.

Julie Croushorn of Birmingham made this one a solo performance from start to finish. Her 43:42 at 7:02 per mile wasn't just a win — it was a statement. The gap between her and 2nd-place Treva Garcia was 14 minutes and 58 seconds, a margin so wide it's almost a different race. In a 24-woman F50-54 field, Croushorn ran in a class entirely her own.

Behind her, the real racing happened in a tight cluster. Garcia (58:40), Lili Kaiser (59:21), and Raquel Osmer (59:38) all came through under the hour mark, separated by less than a minute across three spots on the podium. Kaiser and Osmer in particular were locked together — 17 seconds between 3rd and 4th after 6.2 miles of racing.

Further back, the mid-pack delivered its own drama. Spring Prince and Laurel Smith, both from Tullahoma, TN, ran side by side through most of the course and finished 7th and 8th just six seconds apart. And in 11th and 12th, Shannon Wagner and Jennifer McNeese — both from Arab, AL — crossed in 1:13:25 and 1:13:29, four ticks of the clock separating them after every step of the race.

With mild December conditions in Huntsville — 59°F and a light breeze — the day was about as cooperative as a race morning gets. Croushorn made the most of it. The rest of the F50-54 field raced hard too, and the clusters of tight finishes throughout the results tell the story of a competitive group that pushed each other all the way to the line.
