Annika Hurley made the women's race look like a solo time trial. The 20-year-old from Glastonbury, CT crossed in 19:03 at a 6:08/mi clip — a full 1:45 ahead of runner-up Katie Laris (20:48, 6:42/mi). That gap didn't just happen at the finish line; Hurley was operating in a different gear from the start.

Behind her, Laris and Connie Allen waged a tight battle for the podium. Allen, 35, of Verona, NJ, finished 3rd in 20:59 — just 11 seconds back from Laris's 6:42/mi effort, running 6:45/mi herself. Then came a genuine sprint for 4th and 5th: Gianna Giruzzi (21:16) and Jasmin Gonzalez-Rivera (21:17) both ran 6:51/mi, with Giruzzi holding 4th by a single second. Gonzalez-Rivera, just 18 and racing on home turf in Utica, pushed all the way to the line.

The youth story in this race is impossible to ignore. Keelyn Simpson, 16, took 7th in 21:43, and 14-year-old Mia Rugari of Brockport ran 21:47 for 8th — beating every woman in the field older than her except six. Kylie Murray (15th, 22:08) and Jules Eisenhut (14th, 22:17) rounded out a remarkable cluster of teenagers inside the top ten. Running 5K at 7:01/mi in 84-degree July heat at age 14 is no small thing.

The veterans held their own further back. Rachel Fitzpatrick, 39, clocked 23:10 for 18th, and Kathryn McCowan, 42, was right on her heels in 23:16 for 19th — both running strong in conditions that tested everyone across a 2,036-woman field.
