Rick Royce made this one look straightforward. The 65-year-old from Kingston, Ontario crossed in 25:17 at an 8:08/mi clip — a pace that left the rest of M65-69 chasing daylight. His 1:44 winning margin over Charles Loveless was decisive; there was no drama at the front, just a clean, dominant run in the heat.

Behind Royce, the real racing happened. Loveless (27:01, 8:42/mi) and Hecklau (27:15, 8:46/mi) traded seconds over 3.1 miles before Loveless held on for 2nd by 14 seconds. Then came a genuine cluster: Burak (4th, 27:36), Carey (5th, 27:52), Potrzeba (6th, 28:01), Szczesniak (7th, 28:05), and Erickson (8th, 28:08) — five men separated by just 32 seconds, every one of them running sub-9:05 pace in the summer heat.

Further back, Nelson Lacey (9th, 28:30) and local finisher John Dodge (10th, 28:36) rounded out the top ten within six seconds of each other.
