Running 8:24 per mile on a warm Sacramento morning — 73°F and clear — the Roseville 53-year-old held her composure through the first mile and then backed it up with the 39th-fastest closing split among all the women in the race, crossing in 26:06 to take the F50-54 title without drama.

The real battle for the podium played out behind her. Candie Malone, 51, was the stronger early mover — sitting 32nd among women at the mile — but she faded to 42nd by the finish, her 26:15 still good enough for a clear 2nd. Jennifer Harwood ran the opposite race entirely: 69th among women through the mile, she unleashed the fastest closing split of the three podium finishers, surging to 49th by the line and locking up 3rd in 27:02. Nine seconds separated 1st from 2nd; 47 more separated 2nd from 3rd — a tight top, then a clean break.

Below the podium, Angie Brown and Deborah Coulam ran closely matched races in the 30:51–31:02 range, with Brown edging Coulam by 11 seconds for 4th.
