Charlyn Frazier made the F80+ result look decisive. Her 39:04 finish at 12:35 per mile wasn't just a win — it was a statement, putting more than seven minutes between herself and the rest of the group. She moved steadily through the women's field over the closing mile, picking up six places from the 1-mile mark to the finish, and posted the 198th-fastest closing split among all women in the race.

Behind her, the real drama belonged to Karen Crick and Judy Shipman. Crick held a slight edge at the mile mark — sitting one place ahead in the women's field — but Shipman clawed back ground on the closing leg, posting the 253rd-fastest split among women compared to Crick's 255th. In the end, 13 seconds separated them, with Crick holding on for 2nd and Shipman taking 3rd. Worth noting: Shipman, at 84, was the oldest competitor in the group and ran every step of it in 46:25.

Linda Hall closed things out in 48:25, running a steady 15:35 per mile and gaining eight places in the women's field over the final segment. All four women finished on a clear, 73°F Sacramento afternoon — not the easiest conditions for a 5K — and all four got it done.
