She did give a little ground in the women's field over the closing mile, slipping from 8th to 13th among all women, but her 20th-fastest women's split on that final segment still speaks to a controlled, powerful effort in the 73°F Sacramento heat.

Behind her, the real drama was a three-way scramble for the podium. Julie Fingar (25:07) and Jossy Rodriguez (25:17) were separated by ten seconds, with Roseville neighbors trading places across the women's field in opposite directions — Fingar climbing from 35th to 29th among women while Rodriguez slipped from 28th to 31st.
