Jackie Sword-Olson of Carmichael made her intentions clear early. She held 19th among all women through the first mile, and while she slipped slightly to 22nd by the finish, her 7:37/mi average was in a class of its own in the F60-64 age group — nearly a full minute ahead of runner-up Karen Jeffers of Marysville, who crossed in 24:30 at 7:53/mi. That 52-second gap was decisive and never really in doubt.

Behind Jeffers, Heather Sims of Sacramento claimed 3rd in 26:35, with Lisa Barry of Folsom just 21 seconds back in 4th at 26:56. Both ran strong closing halves — Sims posted the 46th-fastest women's split from mile one to the finish, Barry the 51st — keeping the battle for the lower podium spots tight through to the line.

The most compelling story in the back half of the top five belonged to Margo Covell of Sacramento. Running at 9:00/mi, she gained ground where others faded, moving from 71st to 60th among all women over the final stretch — the best positional climb of any top-five finisher in the age group. Lynn Marshall rounded out the top six in 28:12, capping a competitive front pack before the field spread out considerably through the rest of the 26 finishers.
